Valentine's Day Inspiration

So, Christmas is over, my tree is still up, BUT will be down soon. This week in Target I noticed so many fun valentines STUFF!! So I decided, since Christmas was so fun to decorate for, why not Add V-Day to the mix... AND so I purchased a few things to get me started and thought I would post some inspirational photos of what I may OR may not do...

Merry Christmas

What a year we have had!! Blessed doesn't come close. There were definitely it's ups and downs. Memaw passed November of 2010 from a short battle with cancer. A short 5 months later my aunt Shelly (Memaw's daughter) overcame her battle with a long journey of Cancer and  was promoted to glory. Still shocked from the loss of two very dear people in my life I found out that my mother has breast cancer. I am happy to report that her prognoses was good and she has been undergoing chemo therapy and seems to be responding. SO to say the least, it has been a year of ups and downs. God's hand has been steady on my life and truly has given me peace that passes all understanding of these situations. Matt and I are so blessed with a wonderful support group that is our family. Mother's and sisters who know how to pray and cover us with that prayer and a church that is so very supportive and loving. We are thankful and blessed with our jobs and our responsibilities with the Colorado District Quiz Family (y'all rock), leading worship at our church, and assisting a fine group of people at Denver's House of Worship. We feel that God has protected us and blessed us, and for that we are so very thankful. Surely His goodness and mercy have been with us in 2011. Thank you to all of our Friends and Family that hold us up in prayer and show us so much love. May God Bless you!!

Who Doesn't Love Christmas?? Well, I sure do. I posted some pictures of a client's house that I decorated for the season. Stay Tuned, I got LOTS more!

Bridal Event

Here is a look at a Bridal Luncheon I organized this past summer. The colors of the wedding were Black, Red, Silver. 

 This was the "Treats" table. It had a very Dramatic Center Piece. I added the Damask Ribbon and gems to the arrangement. My favorite part of this was the cakes!!! They were so cute! I took the look I wanted to the bakery, Frills Cake Shop http://www.frillscakeshop.com/ and they did a perfect job of  making the look come to life! I added the flowers. I "flexed" some tulips. Basically you are bending the petals back. Makes a very pretty flower!!

I LOVED this one!!!!  

A look at the table. I added ribbon to the base of the flower arrangements to add color to the table.

I used Hydrangeas and roses for the arrangement. There is also silver stems with jewels hanging from it. The runners I made. I had a hard time finding the pattern I wanted.... so when in doubt, SEW!  

We had flower balls made for the tree. I included small details like with the Bride Banner... made a nice keep sake of the day.

I do have more pictures that I will have to add! The event turned out great! I was super happy.

***UPDATE***

I told Y'all I was going to make one.. and I did!

I Really Love the Orange. I like the lighter orange in the one made in the other blog... but this worked great!

Instead of the Welcome I used V for Valdez.

I found the crow at the dollar store! The fabric I had to buy at Hobby Lobby. The orange fabric was 30% off today AND I got to use their web coupon, 40% off for the other yard! Not bad.

Bethany is super creative. She amazes me at her projects which range from making beautiful baby bedding to Unbelievable Birthday Cakes for her girls.... (I will have to see if she will let me share a pic with you!)

So, she saw my blog and was inspired to make her very own wreath. SO I asked her if I could share it so you could see some variety and another point of view!

Making Your Own Photo Booth

Well we had an awesome Graduation Celebration for my friend Richelle. She loves the latest trend of photo booths with props. So we made two for her party.

So these were super easy and I think it took an hour to make both.

What you will need:

For the Black and White back drop
-Gift wrap (I purchased mine from Hobby Lobby) 25 sq ft
-Tacs or Tape

For the Ribbon Curtain
-Streamers (5 or 6 colors)
-Ribbon (I used 4 different ones)
- Twine or Rope
-Tacs



How to:

Make the Black and White back drop
- Unroll your paper and fold in half
-Cut the paper at the fold (this will leave you with two half's roughly 5ft long)
-Hang one of your half on the wall vertically and secure with tacs on all four corners. (imagine your hanging wall paper)  ;)
-Then hang the second piece next to it. Align your seems. Tac all four corners.
It should look like a square when you are finished. (the width might be a little shorter than the height)

And now you are picture ready!

                       My friend Mike made the props. Mustaches, frames, block letters. Super fun!!


Making the Ribbon Curtain


You want your rope to be about 10 feet long.
I secured the two end on chairs with tape, the were spread out, so that I could easily add the ribbon.
I cut the streamers and ribbon at about 10 ft long. Give or take.
Then you tie them to the rope leaving about 3 inches of an end at the top.
Hang and secure with tacs, letting the curtain drape in the middle.
There ya go! A beautiful photo back drop.

My friend Rachael cut out all kinds of mustaches and put double sided tape on them to stick. We got letter blocks, and whatever we the thought would make these memories fun! Frames are always fun!!

Do It Yourself Frames

I want to start this post out with this link, http://www.tipjunkie.com/before-and-after-ikea/ , I like this site and if you like to be creative on a budget you will too!

 Ok, so... I saw these cute frames at a craft store in Oklahoma while shopping with my awesome Auntie Shelly, I loved them!!! So Of course, I made my own!





What You Need:

-Go to your local T.J.Max or any store that has your favorite frames. I like the $5 ones at Hobby Lobby...

-While at Hobby Lobby pick up some fun ribbon.. I like the thicker ribbon. Similar to those in the pic.

- You will need a broach. The bigger the better! I have found cheap ones at Forever 21 or T.J.Max

-Floral wire

-Hot Glue

How To:

So the Bow part is simple. You don't have to tie it like a normal bow, because you don't need the loop to tie it in the middle.

I Make the two loops (that make the bow part) and leave 3 inches of ribbon on each side. ( a little extra so when you trim the ends you have extra in case of mistakes)

I secure the bow by pinching the bow in the middle and tying it with the floral wire. Then, I hot glue it to the frame. Lots of glue, and I even glue the ends of the ribbon to the frame. (if needed)

Last, you can pin the broach to the center OR glue with hot glue.

And there you have a cute new frame. Great for gifts!

How to Use at Your Event:

Use the frames to hold a menu of the food items being served. OR if it's a shower you are hosting, frame the invite, display where you like,  and give it as a gift to the guest of honor!
